Getting Ready (ages 4.5-6) Getting Ready is an introduction to representational drawing directed to the attention span and motor coordination of the 4-1/2 to 6 year olds. The students are guided through a step-by-step lesson of an object, animal, or character. The class draws each element of shape as the teacher describes them. They are asked to identify each element of shape before they begin drawing. The instruction also includes guidance about length, placement, distance between elements, and how the shapes interact with each other. Children master the ability to recognize the 5 Basic Elements of Shape and combine them to create a drawing. Media used includes: Marker, Chalk Pastel, Oil Pastel and Water Color.

Basic Drawing (ages 6-9) Basic Drawing is an introduction to representational drawing geared to the attention span and motor coordination of a 6-9 year old. Students quickly learn to recognize the elements of shape and are introduced to various choices of how to interpret the lesson in their own creative rendering of the subject and background. Media used includes: Marker, Chalk Pastel, Oil Pastel and Water Color.

Drawing Fundamentals (ages 9-teen) Students are provided the opportunity to begin to work more independently but also allowing for guided drawings for beginning students in this age group on an “as needed” basis. Students are introduced to creating more three dimensional and realistic art through the use of shading. perspective, and composition. As they begin mastering techniques and media, students will be encouraged to develop their own style and creative approach, with continued focus on visual training, planning and process. A full range of subjects will be explored including the human form, animals, nature, still life, and landscape.  Media used includes: Graphite Pencil, Chalk Pastel, Oil Pastel, Markers, Colored Pencil and Water Color.

Drawing & Clay Combo classes are comprised of age appropriate representational drawing where students learn to recognize the elements of shape and combine them in drawing the creatures from nature and objects from their world.  Every other week, students will be introduced to a new clay project where they will have the opportunity to create a 3 dimensional art piece while learning the basics of hand building. Media used includes: Marker, Chalk Pastel, Oil Pastel, Water Color and Clay.

Our simple policies:  Classes meet weekly and are based on a session commitment.  Tuition is due at the time of registration.  Registration will be pro-rated to the end of the session based on start-date and standard session pricing.  Make up classes are available for illness and travel only.
